Participants
from the First Global Nonkilling Leadership Academy, Honolulu, Hawai'i,
October 4-16, 2009. The Academy was organized by CGNK to provide a
select group of promising young leaders with a life changing experience
related to the real and much needed possibilities of a world where
killing is no longer taken for granted. The pilot consisted of a two
week program comprising 12 participants from countries as Liberia,
Western Sahara, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, Germany, Kenya, Thailand,
Philippines, India, the United States and Hawai’i itself. Participants
were nominated by past Nobel Peace Laureates, as well as drawn from
organizations and networks partnering with the Center for Global
Nonkilling.

Build a Global Alliance for Nonkilling, focused on the promotion of change toward the measurable goal of a killing-free world.
Popularize
nonkilling and nonviolence through new formats and materials: parenting
guides, video games, comic books, films, music, poetry, school
curriculum, ...
Continue to promote an increased presence of
nonkilling oriented research and university-based projects and courses,
contributing toward a major paradigm shift.
Develop guides of
good practices, case-studies and policy recommendations based on
experiences that have effectively contributed to reduce killing on the
ground.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??
|
The
scientific community increasingly challenging the premise that killing
is acceptable. This shift in the basic premise for research analysis
will contribute to a major shift from a killing to a nonkilling
paradigm which embrances peace, justice and nonviolence as common goals
and nonkilling as program for their realization.
