 Continuing
work with Rwandan journalists in 2008 brought Ivan Kayonga, the TV
producer who interviewed Dr. Dane in 2005, to the U.S. to receive
recognition for his outstanding work with this taped interview. It
almost got him a spot on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" as the modern Parable
of the Mustard Seed.  An invitation to the 2009 Oxford Roundtables
became Dr. Dane's opportunity to address the ethics of torture in terms
of the Geneva Convention.

the latter half of this decade, the media helped to develop more
widespread understanding of the traumatic consequences of violence.

| OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence?  If so, what were they?
 | Political
leaders of policy development continue to address only short term goals
of win-lose strategies rather that shifting to principles of conflict
resolution that rely on verbal negotiation.

planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to

| GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??
 | UNESCO
and WHO could continue to sponsor breakthrough conferences that
integrate evidence-based information on the consequences of trauma and
the linkage to identity studies showing increased negative perception
of others. The 1997 Algiers conference was on exceptional example of
positive outcome with this approach.
